Nokia took a path breaking , but a beneficial step , for maintaining is existence , not being a MOBILE MANUFACTURER , but just a branding Nokia . Nokia was once a leading brand in the world . Finland based Nokia till last year was a 1st number seller in the Indian market , though last last triplets of years have been crucial for Nokia . So Nokia took a huge step and decided to hand over it's business to Microsoft of which Nokia launched Windows Phone based smartphones since 2011 . Microsoft has a $7.2 billion plan to acquire Nokia.
But what went wrong for Nokia?
The first thing because of Nokia's transgression was it's giving importance to SYMBIAN os and not using OS like Android and other 3rd party OS , of which Samsung made a perfect use ( of Android) and became one of the leading Mobile manufacturer in the world , and became the toughest competitor of the APPLE INC , of which iPhones were having a good sells record . Actually iPhones started the era of the smartphones.
No sooner the sells of Samsung started going up and up and lot's profit achieved by the Korean manufacturer from 2010 or 2011 , Nokia realized , just being Symbian would be crucial for the Nokia in coming future and Manufacturer might not even exists .
As the reports suggests Nokia tested , Android on Lumia range , but why they went with Windows Phone OS , other than Android which was developing dramatically in the world and which was liked by Most of the people . Well the answer to this are in rumors and there's no perfect answer , rumors suggests of Nokia being jealous by Samsung of using Android , so instead of android , Nokia thought of developing .
But still people love Nokia for low end devices !
And yes , that's where Nokia stands apart , still in the world and especially in India , Nokia is still at top at the sell of low end devices and what we call just feature phones , and people love those phones , as they are NOT SMART but just FEATURE phones .

India also has a segment of people who just want low end devices , like Asha series and phones like that were in numbers 3130 etc . But they i think does not even exists now and Asha is at a good demand in the world .
Nokia was also criticized for touch screen phones couple of years back .
Was Windows Phone decision perfect for Nokia?
Jealousy was the thing Nokia went with Windows Phone and launched it's earlier windows Phone 7 devices Like Lumia 800 and later went with Lumia 710,610,510 and with Lumia 920 and 820 Nokia started using Windows Phone 8 and launched Lumia 920,820,720,620,520 etc .
As answer is Yes , Nokia's decision was perfect , and indeed Windows Phone OS made it's fame and developed in the world because of Nokia only , though still far from perfect and limited apps ecosystems , Windows Phone and Nokia still has it's Lovers and Followers . And Microsoft's Metro UI was kind of disgusting for some , but others were fairly happy with it . Windows Phone is really about couple years of old , so it still needs time to develop.
Will Microsoft able to establish EMOTIONAL attachment with the people like NOKIA did?
No , Microsoft won't be able to establish emotional attachment with the people Like Nokia did , in all these years of it's existence . Actually , Microsoft is a bit rude and perfect decision and not a perfect decision maker like Google and Apple .
The reason of maximum people not going with Windows Phone is limited apps ecosystems , Android and iOS are still leading in quality as well as quantity of apps . And also Nokia will stop taking apps for Symbian as well as MeeGo os , though it's devs would still be able to get payments of the current apps but not be able to add additional apps .
Windows Phone still lacks quality of apps . May be Windows Phone SDK's will not be as friendly as Android SDK and iOS SDK , and devs might be having problems in porting apps through Windows Phone SDKs.
How Microsoft will be benefited with this deal?
Yes , surely Microsoft will be benefited with this deal . It will be able to expand it's Windows Phone by using Nokia's worker's , assembly centers , etc and the most imp thing , is using Nokia's worldwide spread network , it will be able to launch phones in almost whole world , and will be able to use Nokia stores and other stuff by Nokia.

Microsoft also promises to reduce Lumia prices by $30-$40 after the final stage of the deal .
What can be the negative side post - deal?
As concerned to the Negative side of the deal , Nokia will loose it's identity of being a Mobile manufacture.
Microsoft will definitely upgrade Asha and other series to Windows Phone , so Nokia belle OS and MeeGo etc will go and only Windows Phone will be only the primary key.
SO LET'S SEE WHAT HAPPENS ! BUT WORLD IS INDEED NOT HAPPY WITH THIS DEAL .
